And
a happy Spring to you all!
Hope your Winters weren't
too rough or long.... Raj and I have been
good and busy with our work, travel, and
family stuff, and now that he is back in
the Bay Area from Japan (where he was touring
with the Turkey Paradise Orchestra and performing
his music from the hit anime show "Golden
Eggs"), we are excited to be concentrating
on another couple of months of The Beautiful
Losers shows and activities!
First, this Friday,
4/10, we're playing at Fourth Street Tavern
in San Rafael. It's our Tavern debut, so
we're not sure what to expect, EXCEPT we've
seen a lot of very lively shows there from
the other side of the stage! Hopefully no
one will get hurt, but it is 21 and over,
so leave the children at home, but do come
early. We are only playing one set from 9:30
to 10:30.... We'll have guest musician(s),
and our excellent friends and fellow artists
The Hold Outs are gonna rock the night away....
Guaranteed fun Friday night!
Also, we are making
our debut at Cafe Royale in "the city" on
Thursday, 4/23. This is a hip SF neighborhood
hangout that hosts a broad spectrum of artists
in an intimate atmosphere. The show is from
8 to 9:30 PM, and all ages are welcome. If
you live on the southern side of the bridge,
be sure to come by, and if you're on the
northern side make the trip and get your
city vibe.... We'll be trying out some songs
from our coming CD, so be ready for a new
experience!
In May, we have a couple
of engagements including 5/15 at Brazilian
restaurant club Senzala in Sunnyvale (this
will be a party!), and the annual Salmon
Kiss and Release Festival in Tiburon on 5/23.
More on these later, but if you have any
questions, you can email or give me a call.
In other news, we're
also working the open mic circuit including
this Thursday at Bazaar Cafe, and some coming
up Sleeping Ladys, so if you're on the scene,
we hope to run into you soon.... In the meantime,
we're moving ahead with plans to release
our new CD "Four Corners Of A Tiny Planet" on our
own label. Good news is the recording
and mastering is finished and sounds AWESOME!
Now we're having fun designing the cover
and packaging, and planning the release.
It's really a privilege to be making something
this special, and we know you all are going
to love the "final product". Wish
us luck, and we thank you for your continued
support!
Show details are below.
Peace,
Brett

Dear
Friends & Music Lovers,
First, let us invite
you all to our "Peace, Love, and Xmas" show
at Sweetwater Station in Larkspur, CA on
Friday, December 12! This year marks our
3rd annual P,L&X show in the Bay Area,
and we'll be playing songs from our upcoming
CD release "Four Corners Of A Tiny Planet" as
well as favorites from our "Peace, Love & Xmas" and
our 2004 eponymous CDs. We have an outstanding
rhythm section in Kyle Caprista on drums
and Angeline Saris on bass, and they bring
a powerful groove to the tunes. Also, we
have a special treat with singer/songstress
Kate Gaffney opening the show with solo acoustic
at 8 PM. (Check her and her impressive new
CD out at www.kategaffney.com).
All ages are welcome and dinner is served,
so bring the family, invite your friends
and come celebrate the holiday season with
The Beautiful Losers =)
If you're not in the
Bay Area or can't make the show, you can
still enjoy some TBL holiday spirit with iTunes
downloads from our "Peace, Love & Xmas" CD
or just by watching our video "She's
Coming Home For Xmas" on youtube!
We'd love to hear from you all anyway, so
drop us a line and let us know how your year
has been.
Our year has been very
busy and productive, the best news being
that we have finally finished recording and
mixing our new CD! This has been a gigantic
effort for us spanning almost three years
of tenacious endeavor, but we are very pleased
and feel we have a world-class work to offer
as a result. Look for a Spring release (the
CD still has to be mastered and packaged),
and for a preview check out the promotion
video for our lead song "Here In
Our Dreams".
In other news, San Francisco
radio station KFOG is continuing to support
us and is keeping our song "Strange" in
rotation. Last year they also played our
song "Every Day Is Xmas Eve" over
the holidays, so when you're feeling jolly
and listening to the radio be sure to call
KFOG or go to www.kfog.com and
request some Beautiful Losers Xmas music!
That's the news for
now.... Thanks you all for your support!
We wish you all the happiest holidays ever
and we look forwad to seeing many of you
soon and hearing from you too!

Hey
All!
Hope your summers are
going great! We've got a lot to tell you....
First a reminder and
some info about our show/party this Saturday
at the Presidio Yacht Club. The venue is
in Fort Baker on the north side of the Golden
Gate bridge. Coming from Marin, we suggest
you take the last exit off 101 before the
GG bridge (from the city take the first exit
after crossing the bridge) As you head toward
Sausalito, take your first left and a quick
right before the one-lane tunnel. We'll put
out signs and balloons to help you find the
way =)
And now some more big
news.... Thanks to the good people at KFOG,
we've added one more show to our "San
Francisco Summer of Love". And what
a show it is! On Sunday, August 31 we will
open for The Indigo Girls and Matt Nathanson
at the Art & Soul Festival in Oakland!
Our set is on the Art & Soul stage from
1 to 2 PM. For details check out http://www.artandsouloakland.com/lineup.htm
And now a big thanks
to David Bash at International Pop Overthrow
for hosting another wonderful festival last
week! Cool bands, cool people, and cool music
all week long =) And we love playing at the
Rockit Room with their excellent stage and
staff. Thanks to all who worked on the festival
and came out to enjoy. Check out a video
of us playing "Strange" at I.P.O.
here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd6T5bIR-So.
"Strange" is
the Beautiful Losers song KFOG is spinning
this month and has included on their Local
Scene 5 CD. The CD is available for $5 on
their website at http://www.kfog.com/music/local_scene/.
Proceeds go to music education programs for
schools. So get it and listen to KFOG! And
thanks for letting us know when you hear
us on the radio =)
Guess that's all for
now, we look forward to seeing you soon!

...and
what a lovely summer it is turning out to be

It was fabulous to see
so many of you at the July 25th show. A big
thanks to our great guest artists Matthew
Schoening and Mike Gibbons, and to Sweetwater
Station for hosting another sold-out night!
Check out some photos here: http://picasaweb.google.com/odettemboyd/TBLSummerOfLoveSweetwaterStation.
Some great news! S.F.
radio station KFOG chose
our song "Strange" to be on their Local
Scene 5 CD, and they are spinning it
for the month of August as part of their
local scene campaign. Tune into KFOG, and
let us know when you hear it.... and another
big thanks to everyone at KFOG!
We are definitely enjoying
our summer of love, but we are also very
busy getting ready for our next event at
the Presidio Yacht Club on August 23rd. If
you haven't been there before, the Presidio
Yacht Club is in Fort Baker by the north
tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. The views
are incredible, and the venue is totally
funky and cool. Put the date on your calendars
as this is going to be a very, very fun party.
Details are below...
Also, we will be appearing
at the S.F. International Pop Overthrow this
Tuesday, August 12 at Rockit Room in San
Francisco. Our set is from 8 to 8:30 PM,
so come early and stay late for a night of
great local bands. More details below below....
In other news, we have
been making great progress on our new CD
and are mixing it now with Randy Rood, as
we did with our first CD.... and the songs
are sounding awesome! We are very excited
about this one, so get ready for a new TBL
CD worthy of the wait. We are playing more
new songs in our sets at both our August
shows in any case, so come on out and say
hi!

Dear
TBL Friends,
Thank you all for your
response to our email asking you to make
requests for The Beautiful Losers on radio
station KFOG..... They got the message and
are now considering our songs for regular
rotation!
In the meantime, however,
we are asking that you put a pause on contacting
KFOG and asking them to play our music. It
seems they have received a large number of
requests for TBL, and they need a break while
their Music Director checks us out!
This is great news!
You all have gotten us noticed by a major
market radio station, and now The Beautiful
Losers have a chance to be heard by millions
of music lovers in the Bay Area.... and beyond!
Nonetheless, we must be patient, so please
keep listening to The Beautiful Losers and
KFOG, and we'll let you know how are campaign

Dear
TBL Friends,
We hope the solstice season has been treating
you all well, and you are looking forward to
moving the calendar into 2008!
The season was terrific
for us, and we were happy to play a sold-out
show at The Belrose Theatre in San Rafael where
there were a lot of
familiar faces as well as some new ones in
the audience... and a good time was head by
all!
A big thanks to Daniel and Erma, the Murphy
Productions team who made the event possible,
and to all of you who came to the show and
supported us by spreading the word. That was
awesome! You can see some cool pics taken by
Bill Anderson Jr. at the event here: http://picasaweb.google.com/willardand/BeautifulLosers
It was a big week for
us as we were interviewed by Paul Liberatore
for
the Marin IJ, and our pictures ended up on
the front page of Friday's
(12/21) paper, and the story made the front
page of the Lifestyles
section. In addition, we were chosen for the
Best Bets section of
Thursday's IJ and had a quarter-page picture
in the Pacific Sun! Check
out the Paul Liberatore story here:
http://www.marinij.com//ci_7774667?IADID=Search-www.marinij.com-www.marinij.com
And if all that isn't
enough, we heard our song "Every Day
Is Xmas Eve" playing
on the radio when we were driving on Xmas
day! That was a big
surprise for us, but It turns out some of the
DJs at KFOG like our CDs
and, and if you go to KFOG's website and make
an equest for The
Beautiful Losers, they will play our songs
on the radio! Pleeeease make
an equest for your favorite Beautiful Losers
song right here:
http://kfog.com/music/eRequest.asp
In other news, we shot
a video with Joselito Sering for a new song, "Here
In Our Dreams",
and we are planning for a Spring or Summer
release of our new CD "Four Corners Of
A Tiny Planet" with a release and shows
in Japan. In any case, look for a gathering
in the S. F. Bay Area when "night and

Well
the weeks are rolling by, and we are well into
February, and plans for our new CD are really
starting to take shape!
Raj
is now back in Tokyo arranging and recording
drum tracks with our beloved rhythm machine,
Andy Matsukami, and I also heard a rumor
that the inimitable Mr. Lenzie Crosby may
be joining us for a few tracks on bass.
I
am still in the S.F. Bay Area and have been
enjoying a week of sunny, summer-like days
while working on pre-production and setting
up a studio where we will record guitars
and other instruments when Raj comes here
next month.
We
havenft decided on all of the titles for
the CD yet, but there will be a number of
brand new songs as well as a few from our
back catalogue. As always, itfs an intense
and exciting process!
In
other news, we are very happy to say that
Amnesty International Japan have again asked
us to collaborate with them on an event to
be held this May, and it will feature live
performances by The Beautiful Losers and
more great artists (TBA). Stay tuned for
developments.

Happy
New Year to all you Beautiful Losers out there!
Well, it's 2006 now, and we're looking forward
to another great year of good music and good
times. But first, here is last year in review....
2005
was big for us with many milestones, starting
with
our debut
performance in Raj's own "Great White
North" at Canadian Music Week in Toronto,
where we played on the stage of the world-infamous
El Macambo! It was freezing cold, and our
taxi caught on fire as we pulled up to the
hotel lobby.... How's that for an entrance?
Then,
before heading overseas for the release of
our first
album
on Neoplex Records, we stopped in San Francisco
and played a few shows, including one at
the legendary Sweetwater Saloon, and another
at the Japanese anime convention "Anime
Overdose". Quite a contrast between
the audiences at these events, but they all
love us!
We then made a mad dash
over the Pacific to begin promo for our CD
release in Japan. We played shows and did
in-studio performances and had interviews
with all kinds of media people, and got to
work with a lot of our friends at Inter FM,
Metropolis, Ruby Room, HMV, Juice Magazine,
Love FM, Music On! TV, Barfout!, Space Shower,
Studio Voice, and more. Thank all of you
for your help and support!
The
spring of seduction became the summer of
love, and
our work in
Japan extended into a warm and delicious
summer tour that took us from the beaches
of Kamakura to the mountains of Shizuoka....
and the whole thing climaxed with our set
at the Fuji Rock Festival. What can we say?
except, "I TOLD YOU SO!"
Not
to be eclipsed by this, however, was the
outstanding event "Underground
Unplugged Vol. 1" which featured The
Beautiful Losers with acoustic performances
by special guests Copeland and Oceanlane.
A wonderful success, and we plan to host
more Un Uns in the future. Look out for Vol.
2!
As
summer ended we were again struck by inspiration
and decided
to
make a Christmas CD! So in the heat of August,
we set about writing and recording songs
for "Peace, Love, & Xmas".
And once again the muses smiled upon us,
and the fates conspired and gave us another
creation, which came out on our own Beautiful
Records in Japan on Nov. 23, 2005 (more on
that later).
We finished recording
in September then headed back to California
for shows with American Drag, Keith Varon,
Nathan Paine, and another anime con appearance
at Anime Destiny on the UC Berkeley campus.
All were fabulous affairs with lots of fun
and friends and family!
Then
back to Tokyo for the release of Peace, Love & Xmas.
Our first appearance was an interview and
performance
at the KDDI building. It was broadcast live
on a big screen onto the streets of Harajuku
with thousands of spectators. Wow! And from
there it was a wild ride of more shows and
interviews and events that started in early
November and ended in late December (with
a bang!) at the Inter FM iParty where WE
ROCKED THE HOUSE WITH XMAS SONGS!!
We
were especially proud and honored during
this time to work
with
Amnesty International Japan on "Songs
For Human Rights" and "Rock For
Human Rights". These events affirmed
in us the real power and purpose of music
and its ability to affect the world for good.
Yes!
At
present, Raj is in Europe working on the
French Connection,
and I am holding down the fort in S.F. Our
plans for this year include a new CD, more
shows in Japan and California, and any number
of surprisesc.. and wefll see many of you
along the way!
-Brett

Hello
again!
The new
CD is just around
the corner and will be available on
iTunes, amazon.co.jp, Tower Records
Japan's site and CD Baby. As soon as
we have links available to purchase
it from each site, we'll put them up.
The CD sounds great!
There's
also some huge announcements coming in the
future for the band, all of them great news
so stay tuned for that. All in all, it looks
like 2005 was a great year for the band,
but 2006 should be even better! There's a
ton of shows in Japan between now and the
end of the year and hopefully we can counter
it in 2006 with a bunch of shows in the US
as well.
Thanks
to everyone who supports the band and has
come out to these shows. It is appreciated.
Enjoy the
new album!

The
band has just agreed to play at FanimeCon this
Memorial Day weekend. We'll be happy to see
all our fans and friends again!
We've been
slowly working on updating the site and Raj
now has a blog which
he'll update from time to time (possibly
even daily!). We've also installed a much
more robust webboard/forum which
we're quite happy with. Some people still
prefer the old one, though. Let us know which
one you like better! With both these and
of course the mailing
list and MySpace
page, these are just a few new steps
into staying in touch with our fans. If you
have any further suggestions, please post
them on our forum.

We are in the process of signing with
an up an coming Japanese Independant

hit T.V drama associated with the label called "Deep Love" (The DVD sold
100,00 copies and the Manga 2,000,000!!) we are flying to San Francisco
in November to record a song for the New years season of "Deep Love".
We will keep you posted!

A big howdy to
all of our friends around the world who have been supporting
us at our shows the past few months and keeping in touch with
us via the BBS.
Brett and I spent April and May touring the
U.S west coast with our bassist Kalyan
Godden and drummer Ernest "Boom" Carter
(by the way Ernest was the original Bruce Springsteen's E Street
drummer and co wrote "Born to Run" among other songs) as well
as with a host of other guest musicians.
All in all it was a great time and we hope to be back to do
more dates early next year.
Highlights for the tour were the Fanime (animation)
convention in San Jose where over 3000 of you showed up to hear some
music
and sing along.
Other great gigs included our week long stint in Seattle promoted
by our good friend Thai Tom.
Other highlghts were our regular San Francisco gig at The Red
Devil Lounge as well as our showcase for Northern Californias
biggest radio station ALICE radio, who featured us on their
emerging artist showcase and spent weeks promoting us and spreading
the word.
June saw us return to Tokyo to play the Democrats
abroad in Japan "Rock for Regime Change" and to also showcase for industry
people and fans at the very cool Y2K venue
in Roppongi.
Packed gigs and a good time were had by all as our band in Japan
consisiting of Lenzie Crosby on Bass, Andy Matsukami on Drums
and Percussion and Miki on violin rocked the house.
Our next show will be an opening slot with
Japanese singer / songwriter Ken Yokoyama
and S.F punk popsters "No Use For A
Name" at the Shibuya AXE Stadium.
In the meantime Brett and I are writing songs
for a new T.V drama called "Deep Love" some T.V commercials, Game software
music for Konami ,Commercial songs for Yamaha,
Nissan etc and of course new songs for The Beautiful Losers.
Hope to see y`all soon.
Peace and Love

Spring is finally
here and The Beautiful Losers are back on tour!
The cherry blossom season in Japan of feasting and drinking
under the trees has finally come to a close, and what a season
it was!
Both Brett and I have been hard at work writing songs and composing/singing
t.v commercials for several funky products here in Japan.
We have one last show in Tokyo this Friday the 9th of April
and then we are playing several dates in Northern California
and clear up to Seattle, Washington throughout late April and
May.
Good news seems to be in abundance this year, and we are especially
happy to announce that Alice Radio (the biggest rock station
in Northern California) has invited us to play at their Emerging
Artist Showcase on April 29th at The Red Devil Lounge in San
Francisco!!
Come and join us if you are in the area!

Happy
Birthday to Raj!!!
We are now in the San Francisco Bay Area where we have been
gigging and jamming and hanging out with friends.
Last night was our biggest performance yet.
We had the honor of being the "featured artist" at
the Monday open mike night at the legendary
Sweetwater Saloon in downtown Mill Valley.
What a night!
There are so many great musicians around here, the whole thing
was amazing.
There were several stand-out performances including one smoking
hot blues guitarist and a lady vocalist who just turned the
house upside down.... Wow! Because The Beautiful Losers were
the featured artist, we were able to play a five-song set, whereas
most acts only get to play two songs.
Raj and I were joined by Kalyan Godden on bass and Mike Romano
on drums.
More great musicians! And it was so nice to hear the cheers
and applause of our friends and supporters in the audience.
You guys are awesome!
We will play again at the Sweetwater on Wednesday, January 28,
and this time we have a full 45-minute set.Our first showcase
gig in the Bay Area!
Next we move to the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco on February
5 where we will do another showcase.
We are a little surprised at the excitement The Beautiful Losers
thing is stirring up and we are expecting lots of people and
a few management companies to come out to the shows with our
entertainment attorney Beverly Green.
We are also really excited about our new band!
For the next two shows we'll have Kalyan on bass and Joe Shotwell
on percussion. Also joining us for a few tunes will be violinist
Patti Weiss. We look forward to an excellent show!
After the Red Devil, we are back off to Tokyo, where we have
a couple of major engagements including a big event at Tokyo
station and some recording work for Roland.
Our plan now is to be in Tokyo until the Spring, then turn our
sights back on the Bay Area where we plan to do a series of
showcases including more venues in San Francisco and Berkeley.

Today we shot
footage for the Alien Sun music video.
The video is directed by Thomas Hale, produced
by Anand Ramayya (Raj's "little" brother), and features the enchanting
beauty of Jan Sparrowhawk. This is our first full-production
video, and we have a fantastic crew, facilities, and equipment.
We love it! Check it out on the "video" page of the
site. |
